The mission of the Vocations Office is the ecclesial, decisive commitment of every member of the Diocese of San Jose to pray, call, and lead our young people to a free, loving, and Christian response to the Call of God.
The Vocations Office helps individuals discern a vocation to ordained or vowed service to the Church, supports those who are exploring this call, provides training and education to those pursuing their vocations, and organizes retreats, resources, and events to promote and pray for vocations.
We currently have 10 seminarians and the cost of one year of priestly formation and education averages $50,000 per seminarian for tuition, room and board and a small monthly stipend. With 10 men in priestly studies, the total is approximately $500,000. While our Annual Diocesan Appeal covers some of this cost, we still need to raise an additional $200,000.
