The conference theme, “Innovative Approaches to Compassionate Healthcare - The Ministry of Mercy”, was chosen since innovation is essential in medicine to develop new therapies and approaches to help alleviate suffering and eradicate illness. A wide array of novel technologies has rapidly emerged in medical practice to enhance the level of care patients receive. However, it is imperative not to sacrifice important measures necessary to foster outstanding relationships between healthcare professionals and their patients. As such, further efforts to exercise compassion and to show mercy are essential. Innovative approaches of practicing such virtues in concert with medical technology advances offer tremendous hope for delivering the best care possible to patients and their families. Attention to the spiritual well-being of patients is also necessary to help bring forth definitive healing.
