Mission Statement
The mission of the Diocesan Program of Priestly Formation is to prepare men as Roman Catholic priests for service in the universal Church and the local Church of San Diego.
This program is based upon and integrates the four dimensions of formation: human, spiritual, intellectual and pastoral, in order that seminarians:
- Grow as disciples
- Discern their vocation
- Develop leadership and ministry skills to meet the needs of our diverse local Church
- Be configured to Christ who is Shepherd, Servant, and Spouse
Four (4) Seminarians were ordained as Priests in 2025. We currently have nine (9) Seminarians in Formation.
The cost of the formation alone is over forty thousand dollars ($40,000) per year for each Seminarian.
Your donation supports priestly formation, enabling our seminarians to prepare for their vocation.

Prayer for Vocations
O God, Father of all Mercies,
Provider of a bountiful Harvest,
Send Your Graces upon those
You have called to gather the fruits of Your labor;
preserve and strengthen them in their lifelong service of you.
Open the hearts of Your children
that they may discern Your Holy Will;
inspire in them a love and desire to surrender themselves
to serving others in the name of Your son, Jesus Christ.
Teach all Your faithful to follow their respective paths in life
guided by Your Divine Word and Truth.
Through the intercession of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary,
all the Angels, and Saints, humbly hear our prayers
and grant Your Church's needs, through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
