Description

Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit is an international congregation of 2,783 Sisters, living and working in forty-eight countries.

The charism of our Congregation is evangelization; we are engaged in various activities that contribute to the spreading of the Good News. We are seeking prayers and financial support to continue our missionary outreach with the poor and the marginalized, especially women and children in St. Kitts, Jamaica, Antigua, and urban USA.

Mission appeal donations will be used to benefit the people we serve through the following ministries:

• Holy Spirit Catholic Preschool in Molineux, St. Kitts: Our Sisters opened this preschool in September 2011 to provide quality and Christian early childhood education ages 3 and 4. This is the only Catholic preschool in the entire twin-island nation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

• Education and socio-pastoral ministries in Morant Bay, St. Thomas, Jamaica: Our Province supports the local Catholic school with personnel, scholarships, and resources to develop the physical space and the curriculum. Our Sisters are also involved in social and pastoral work with impoverished women, the elderly, and the sick.

• Education and socio-pastoral ministries in St. John’s, Antigua: Our Sisters engage in education ministry with the diocesan schools, Hispanic ministry, youth ministry, outreach to the poor, and prison ministry.

• The Holy Spirit Life learning Center in Chicago, IL: Our center provides educational and skill-building programs to low-income income individuals, especially migrant women and children. The Center also offers services to victims of domestic abuse and runs peace-building programs for children and adults.

• Our Sisters in the USA are also involved in social justice ministries. In New York, one Sister accompanies women who have been trafficked to the USA, and another works in a food pantry. In Northfield, Illinois, one of our Sisters advocates on behalf of immigrants and for victims of human trafficking. Our Sisters in Rogers Park, Chicago, and Waukegan, Illinois, engage in faith formation of adults and children and provide after-school educational support for children.
