SVF Confessional Project – Renewing a Sacred Space
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is one of the Church's most beautiful gifts and one which we are pleased to offer here at St. Vincent Ferrer not once but 6 times a week. Reconciliation is the Sacrament wherein we return to the Lord and where God, in turn, bestows upon us an abundance of his grace and mercy.
Reconciliation was historically, and remains to this day, one of the hallmarks of the Dominican Order. Wherever the friars went, they sought to reconcile people to God and to the Church. That mission continues with us at St. Vincent Ferrer.
Here at St. Vincent Ferrer, we are blessed that so many parishioners continue to seek this Sacrament throughout the week. However, it is not only parishioners who take advantage of the frequency with which we offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation. People come from around the city and the state, driving upwards of 45 minutes or more, to experience the mercy of Jesus Christ here at St. Vincent Ferrer.
Blessed as we are, we recognize that that the physical environment of our confessional space does not currently reflect the dignity that this Sacrament deserves, nor does it adequately supply for a parishioner's desire or need for privacy and anonymity.
In particular, our existing confessional prie-dieu and screen are quite old and need to be updated.
We are planning a modest but meaningful renovation of the confessional area, including:
We are seeking a donor (or donors) to support the replacement of the confessional screen and prie-dieu, with an estimated cost of $6,000.
This is a unique opportunity to directly support one of the most meaningful and transformative experiences within our parish community. Every confession heard, every soul restored to grace, is a step forward in building up the Kingdom of God here at St. Vincent Ferrer.
If you feel called to help make this renewal possible, please contact the parish office or make a donation online. We would be honored to speak with you. Thank you for helping us continue our mission of reconciling people to God and helping them to encounter his endless love and mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
