Saint Agnes stands as one of Brooklyn’s largest and most beautiful churches, a masterpiece of early 20th-century German craftsmanship. Nestled at the corner of Hoyt and Sackett Streets in the rapidly growing Gowanus neighborhood, the church remains a beacon of faith and history. Yet, something essential is missing—her voice.
For decades, Saint Agnes was home to a grand pipe organ, but it was sold away years ago. The electronic organ installed in the 1970s has long since fallen silent, leaving only a grand piano to support liturgical music. While the piano has served us well, a church of this stature deserves the rich, resonant voice of an ORGAN.
Today, thanks to remarkable advancements in technology, modern electronic organs can authentically reproduce the grandeur of a traditional pipe organ, filling even the most magnificent spaces with majestic sound.
To restore the voice of Saint Agnes, we are partnering with Allen Organs, a renowned American company that has provided exceptional instruments to churches, cathedrals, and basilicas across the country. Their organs, handcrafted in Pennsylvania, blend cutting-edge technology with the timeless beauty of sacred music.
We are seeking to raise a total of $110K, which includes the organ itself, as well as two sets of high-tech speakers, shipping, installation and a 10-year warranty.
We need your help to bring this vision to life! Join us in restoring the music that Saint Agnes—and our community—deserves.
